RAWALPINDI: The Pakistan Army has said that the recently launched O
peration Radd-ul-
Fasaad is aimed at countering the ‘mischievous’ elements whether they exist within or outside the country.
“All the pre
vious military o
perations – including O
peration Zarb-e-Azb – had succeeded in achieving their objectives,” Major General Asif Ghafoor, director general of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), said in a television interview on Tuesday.
“The pre
vious o
perations were primarily aimed at restoring the state’s writ in different areas and eliminating terrorists’ hideouts, but O
peration Radd-ul-
Fasaad aims at consolidating gains of the pre
vious o
perations,” he said. The ISPR chief said the ongoing o
peration sought to stop facilitators of terrorists inside the country and also included a deweponisation campaign but it had no timeline. The ISPR DG said, “The o
peration was not only collective o
peration of all the law
enforcing and security agencies but an o
peration in which every Pakistan had to play a role. “And collectively we will stamp out ‘
Fasaad (disorder)’ from the country,” he added.
To a question, he dispelled the impression that other civilian institutions were not doing their work in implem
enting the 20-point National Action Plan (NAP) against terrorism. “Every institution is doing its work wonderfully,” he said.
