KARACHI: Inquiry commission on Monday ordered the immediate disconnection of pouring sewerage water in Sindh canals, resulting in water adulteration.
A commission led by Sindh High Court’s (SHC) Justice Muhammad Iqbal Kalhoro resumed hearing of the petition against abortive water supply and sanitation system in Sindh.
Secretary irrigation, additional secretary health and managing director Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) were also present on the occasion. The commission expressed frustration and stated that ground realities were pa
rallel to report submitted by irrigation
officers.
“A great crime is being committed and we are unable to stop it,” said secretary irrigation, upon which the commission directed concerned authorities to immediately chop off connections causing water pollution.

ontaminated due to illicit practice of mixing c
ontaminated water into fresh water.
Commission summoned five-year-report pertaining to provision of fresh water to hospitals, disposal of waste, amount allocated and amount spent on water supply and sanitation system.
Commission
also directed health department, irrigation department and medical companies to submit detailed report within seven days.
